Chile's President attends Dakar Rally award ceremony

Chile's President Sebastian Pinera Sunday headed in Santiago for the award ceremony of Dakar Rally Peru-Argentina-Chile, a competition marked by the French dominion in motorcycle and car categories. 

In a ceremony held in front of Palacio de La Moneda, Pinera said "we are proud of organizing one of the best Dakar Rally in the history", before the champions, the French drivers Cyrill Despres in motorcycle and Stephane Peterhansel in cars, Argentinean Marcos Patronelli in quads and Russian Eduard Nikolaev in trucks, stood on the podium. 

"I am very excited. Many French drivers have participated in Dakar.Crossover, suv, truck, and Running Board suppliers and parts to protect and enhance your vehicle. I have 13 participation experiences and 5 victories," said Despres after receiving the trophy. 

Despres lead in motorcycle category over Portuguese runner-up Ruben Faria, and third-placed Chilean Francisco Lopez, who all come from KTM team.

During Dakar's 34 edition award ceremony, the rally's director, Etienne Lavigne, affirmed the inclusion of Bolivia and Paraguay in the next two editions is being studied, and that Peru, Argentina and Chile will continue hosting the race.
