Norway's
Aksel Lund Svindal lived up to his billing as the pre-race favorite
Sunday by capturing his third straight Super G World Cup title at the
Alberta course.Svindal, who was fourth in the downhill Saturday, crossed
the finish line of the relatively straight course in 1:28.53. Austrians
Matthias Mayer (1:28.91) and Georg Streitberger (1:28.91) finished
second and third respectively. It was his fifth career Super G title at
Lake Louise to go with one downhill title won last year. With the win,
the 30-year-old tied Hermann Maier for most men's World Cup Super G
victories at a single venue. The Austrian legend won five Super G races
at Kitzbuhel."I knew it was a fast course, especially on the 'Coaches
Corner' and 'Followay' sections. People kept making mistakes there and I
could have probably done a bit better there myself," said Svindal, the
Super G gold medalist at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics."But what is
important in Lake Louise is to carry the speed down. I was mainly
focused on that and on being as compact as I could in the last
section."For Svindal, who finished second in the overall World Cup
standings to Austrian Marcel Hirscher last season, it was his 11th
career Super G victory. He now passes Switzerland's Pirmin Zurbriggen to
sit second outright in the all-time standings, well behind Maier's 24
wins.
As
dominant as Svindal has been at Lake Louise, so too have the Austrians
who now have claimed 22 of the 45 podium positions in the 15 World Cup
Super G races that have been held at the Banff National Park
mountain.Runner-up Mayer called the course difficult to attack."Still,
my run was good. I skied particularly well in the steep section,Nike Air Max but
maybe in the last gates I lost some time that might have cost me a
victory," the 23-year-old said. "Overall, I am very happy with how it
went today."Veteran Streitberger added the Lake Louise course was good
for downhillers.Wholesale Lingerie Sexy Lingerie"I
like it when Super G is closer to downhill than a giant slalom," said
the 32-year-old Salzburg native. "The course was fast but good to ski
and I am satisfied with how I handled it. I only made one mistake at the
last big turn, but things like that can always happen. It's my first
podium in Lake Louise and that for me makes today a perfect day."

finished 10th and 12th respectively at Lake Louise, enough for both to
secure Olympic team berths."Even though I'm not on the podium today when
I knew I could have been, I'm still pretty happy with my performance,"
said Calgary native Hudec,Lululemon Women's Pants who has endured seven knee operation in his 32 years.Isuzu Auto Parts"All-in-all
an awesome performance, I'm really happy about that. It's frustrating
today because, you know, coulda woulda shoulda, but at the same time I
know that if I would have just cleaned up that one turn I might have
