A Christmas gift from GECA


Any ticket purchased before December 25 for any of the three showings of “The Glass Menagerie,China 4x4 Accessories wholesalers” January 4, 5 and 6, will be just $5. “It is the perfect chance for people who have never seen a play at the GECA to come and experience what so many have made a regular part of their lives,Running Board suppliers” GECA artistic director Phil Johnson said. “Get some and give them as gifts. You might ignite a passion for theater in unexpected places.” 

“The Glass Menagerie” features Timothy Huber as Tom, the narrator and lead; Sharon Poulsen as Amanda, his mother; Ryan Garmeson as Laura, Tom’s painfully shy sister; and Dan Johnson as Jim, the self-absorbed gentleman caller. 

Huber, Poulsen and Johnson are regulars in GECA productions. Garmeson, a sophomore at T.R. Miller High School, is in her first GECA show, coming to Atmore from the ballet company in Brewton. The play is under the direction of Phil Johnson. 

“I have loved this play since doing it more than 30 years ago,” Johnson said. “It provides laughter and tears. It provides a mirror for us to see the good and bad in us all. It made me fall in love with the stage, a love that burns brighter each day.” 

The play has done the same for audiences since its premiere in 1944. Some of the greatest performers in history have taken on these challenging roles. From Katherine Hepburn and Jessica Tandy to John Malkovich and Paul Newman,blower and fan the best of the best have jumped at the chance to recreate Williams’ classic characters.
