Then I used a small foam roller and some leftover pale yellow paint from our kitchen walls to paint the top of the plaque. After the yellow had dried I taped off one thin line on each side of the plaque and added a brighter yellow accent line.

After the glue on the ribbons was completely dry, I turned the plaque over and marked three equidistant spots near the bottom to attach them. I added a bit of glue to each spot and pressed the ribbons into place. At the top of the back I attached two metal hanging loops (found them in the picture frame section of Michael's), spacing them equal distance from the outer edges to make sure the plaque would hang straight on the wall.

Once the glue holding the ribbons to the plaque was dry I added a few final accents to the front of the ribbons. I took three more of the felt-and-button flowers (green leaves removed because I liked the look better) and glued them to the bottoms of the ribbons.

You can see a faint yellowing in the center of each daisy flower. That yellow stain is left behind by the pollen from each blossom, when the flowers are applied to the wet fabric and pressed into place the pollen comes in firm contact with the fabric and leaves it's mark. I love that about these flowers. the shape of their leaves is wonderful for sun printing as well, with the serrated edge to give extra interest. It is almost time for the flowers to start blooming in the ditches and along the road sides again!! I will be doing many more sun prints and offering them for sale in my Etsy Shop!

Miao, Chen cherish last dance at Olympics

Chinese basketball girls walked away Wednesday from a 75-60 loss to Australia in the quarter-finals of the London Olympic Games, with smiles on their faces.

They battled all the way from the beginning before they collasped in the last part of the fourth quarter against the defending silver-medalists, who beat them by 90-56 at the Beijing 2008 and 91-68 at the 2010 World Championships.

Miao Lijie, a 15-year veteran of the national team who had 13 points, said, "This is definitely my last game at the Olympics. I have no regrets. We were not be favored before the Olympics and we made it into the knock-out round. I'm happy with the results."

The 31-year-old Miao announced her retirement from the Olympics four years ago at Beijing, but returned when the team needed her leadership.

"I feel it's time (to step down). I think my younger teammates would be glad to see me leaving," Miao said. "The Olympics is not easy for a veteran like me. I'm really surprised to make it through. Now I want the youth to take on the vein."

Center Chen Nan, who had six points and seven rebounds, also confirmed her leaving. "I'm not leaving basketball court but this is my last Olympics."

Chen, 29, competed at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympics after she joined in the national team in 1999. She got married in May, but returned to the training camp before taking a honey moon trip.

"I have competed three Olympics so I felt relaxed this time at London. I enjoyed the tournament and I'll remember it for my life. Australia is a good team and (Elizabeth) Cambage will have a promised future. They deserved the victory," Chen said.

Miao scored seven points in the first quarter when Australia led 22-16 before Chen Xiaoli stood up from the bench to had nine points in the second period. China led 36-35 before the break.

Neither team had a clear advantage in the third 10-minute but the Australia inside players showed their dominance in the paint as they led 55-52.

Cambage had 17 points and seven rebounds in less than 25 minutes and Suzy Batkovic adding 10 points and nine rebounds. Australia won on the board by 44-33 and scored 52 points under the basket.

Australia benifited from the inside plays when the exhausted Chinese failed to protect their defensive rebounds in the fourth quarter. A 12-1 run in less than five minutes gave the Australians a 71-58 lead with 3:46 minutes to go.

Ma Zengyu led China with 15 points and five rebounds.

Australia will face the United States, who beat Canada 91-48 in the earlier game, in the semi-finals. It's a rematch of the finals of the Beijing Olympics.

Lauren Jackson, who had 12 points, said, "The United States is the target of my career. We'll fight for our life."

China beat Angola for third win to reach quarterfinals at London Olympics

China beat African champion Angola 76-52 for their third consecutive victory and also booked a berth in the quarterfinal of the women's basketball tournament at the London Olympic Games here on Wednesday.

China only used one quarter to seize the victory. They outscored their opponents 24-6 in the third quarter to build a 20-point lead and never trailed in the second half. Every Chinese player scored, with two of them reaching double figures.

Chen Nan scored eight of her match-high 15 points in the first quarter and grabbed four rebounds. Ma Zengyu also took 15 points. Veteran Miao Lijie got six points and five assists.

"We lost our concentration in the first half," said Ma, who also grabbed a match-high nine rebounds. "Maybe because we didn't meet too much difficulties in the first two wins, we overrated ourselves. After the halftime break, we made adjustments and quickly controlled the match."

It's the first time for China to play Angola in a match of world-stage tournament. The African champion seemed to fully recover from their Monday's 38-90 loss to the United States, opening the match with a three-point and only trailing by two points after the first quarter.

"Our defense was poor in the beginning. We didn't focus enough in the first quarter," said Miao. "But we preformed our best in the second half and proved that there are still distances between the two teams."

Nacissela Mauricio's free throw tied the score 28-all for Angola. But Ma hit a buzzer-beat three-point at halftime, which gave China a two-point lead at 33-31.

China went on a 10-0 run in the third quarter and forced Angola to take in four 24-second violations. Ji Yanyan, leading scorer of China's WCBA League, made her Olympic debut in this quarter and finished with six points after seven minutes.

"I feel excited about my first Olympic match," said Ji. "Playing in an Olympic match means success to me. I will try to enjoy the Olympics."

Sonia Guadalupe led Angola with 12 points. Three Angola players reached double figures.

China became the second team to qualify for the top eight. France edged out Canada 64-60 in Wednesday's opening match to stay unbeaten after three preliminary round matches and reach the quarterfinals.

China, which finished fourth in the Beijing 2008, will play against Turkey on Friday before they face the mighty United States, which they have never won at the Olympics.
